Earth Day Special Spring Rising: Cultivating Practices for the Season Yoga Workshop with Mary Dana Abbott.
This is a LIVE online workshop taking place on Earth Day 22nd April 2021 7pm-9pm BST as an opening event to Scapa Fest 2021.
Earth day is a wonderful time to explore our relationship to the planet that supports, substantiates and supplies our existence. This inquiry allows us to see how the forces that move nature also move us. As the seeds begin to blossom around us we are reminded that the spirit of the season is regeneration, birth, re-birth and growth. Through mindful practices we equip ourselves with tools that both honour and celebrate the vivacity of the season while grounding us with boundaries and support.
- physical practices to ground and nourish our bodies in the season of spring
- breathwork to expand our capacity and hone the power of the imagination
- meditation techniques to honour the potential of the mind and expand our outlook
It is recommended that you have 2 yoga blocks, or a substitute and some sort of chair that you can put your feet on.
Mary Dana has been practicing yoga and other types of movement disciplines and dance for most of her life. She is a long time teacher and teacher trainer who offers an interdisciplinary approach on the mat. Since her first yoga class over thirty years ago Mary Dana has racked up thousands of hours studying many disciplines and styles, including vinyasa, Iyengar and Katonah yoga. Her classes combine smart and fun sequencing, clear and precise cues, and a down-to-earth sense of humor.
Before the pandemic, Mary Dana traveled all over the world teaching trainings and workshops. She now mostly (and happily) teaches from her house in Brooklyn, NY.
