Yin Mandala + SUP Yoga Sessions at Scapa Fest

The brand new Yin Mandala + SUP Yoga Sessions at Scapa Fest are an opportunity to take your yoga practice off-shore, truly off the mat, and explore the freedom and peacefulness that comes from being out on the water (SUP means Stand-Up Paddle Board).

These sessions will be held on Caspian Pond, a haven of tranquility nestled amongst the trees at the heart of Ardkinglas Estate, yet right on the edge of Loch Fyne, Scotland’s longest sea loch.

Powerful Yin, Mandala Flows

A short grounding warm up session to connect us to ourselves and mother earth. We will practice some slow, simple and powerful yin & mandala based flows to move us around our mats, which we can then transfer on to our SUP boards.

Dynamic SUP Yoga

We will continue our yoga practice on a paddle board to connect us to the dynamic element of water. SUP yoga brings an added dimension of joyful exploration of our minds and bodies as we work creatively to find our focus & stability on a movable platform. Our SUP practice will be playful to keep us adaptable, fluid, & in motion, just like water itself.

The water element is also associated with the sacral chakra which relates to our emotions, so this can sometimes be a moving & freeing practice to release emotional, mental or physical blockages.

These sessions are led by Nichola Jayne Tong whose professional background is in clinical healthcare.

“I came to yoga to help manage work related joint pain though I found so much more than physical benefits. As my practice grew I started to develop a deeper interest in how yoga was affecting me spiritually, plus I discovered the joys of practicing yoga on water. This new found passion inspired me to train to become a yoga & SUP yoga teacher to get deeper in to the philosophical and meditative elements. Now I love to share the benefits of my passion with others. I teach combinations of hatha, yin yoga & mandala vinyasa yoga, plus I offer yoga retreats amongst the stunning lakes & mountains of Slovenia.”

An invitation, an opportunity and an experience

This programme of Scapa Fest 2021 is an open invitation to explore your relationship with yourself and the world around you from the inside out and the outside in.

This is an opportunity to set your mind free, so it can create and engineer visionary solutions for a better balanced human society. This is a chance to give your hands & soul the precious gifts of traditional knowledge, crafts and skills.

We always receive more than we pay for when we get to actively participate instead of passively watching.

At Scapa Fest, the transaction is never complete and closed. We start a journey from which we can only return with more energy, peace of mind and freedom than we started with.

With each version of Scapa Fest, I call for experiences that are intimate, personal, and unique. I call for the creation of a multitude of powerful “you have to be there” moments.

Only through action we become the bridge between the challenging and the possible. Through daily actions, big and small, secret and public, inspired or sometimes fearful and even hesitant.

That’s why we choose to define Scapa Fest as a sustainable living IN ACTION event.
